Winter to Spring Transitional Dressing

Spring in New England usually means unpredictable weather. But moving from winter to spring doesn’t require a total revamp of your closet. Having easily accessible transitional pieces in your wardrobe helps make dressing for this season a breeze!

The key to surviving this transitional season is layering. That means swapping out those heavier winter pieces like nubby knits and puffy coats, for thin knits and lighter outerwear pieces.  Consider light cardigans or crops instead of chunky cable knits and jean jackets, leather coats and chic blazers layered with a scarf and gloves or a hat instead of that bulky winter coat. For your bottom half, trade in darker denim for a lighter wash or a crop pair with a bare leg. And pull out the white denim and bring back brighter spring colors to your wardrobe.  Keep reading for outfit inspo and some of our favorite transitional pieces for this spring!

The Casual Blazer

The casual blazer is an amazingly versatile piece for layering. Wether your version is more tailored or extra casual it is a piece that moves from outdoors to indoors seamlessly, making it the perfect piece for variable temperatures. Button it up and add a scarf if its cooler outside, then unbutton once it gets warmer in the afternoon. If it’s really hot by the end of the day, you can just take it off altogether, revealing a cute tee underneath.

Sweaters + Skirts

Come spring and summer we start to think about all the pretty skirts and dresses we'll get to wear. So, why not start reintroducing them now! Try and layer a chunky sweater over a slip dress or lightweight chiffon maxi skirt.

Go-To Spring Transition Dress

Warmer weather calls for tucking away your go-to jeans and pulling out your go-to spring transition dress. Go for a long sleeve option paired with tall boot and a scarf or cardigan, and by the end of the day you can tuck the scarf away in your bag and tie the cardigan around your waist. Tights or tall boots can also keep your legs warms on cooler mornings!

Layered Classic White Shirt

The perfect white shirt works with everything and adds a pop of bright white o ighten your look. Layer over a white tank or crop tee and top with a sweater or cardigan. Once it warms up, lose the layers. Tie up the end to create a high waist or and let the shirt hang open or partially buttoned over over the top.

Loafers, Oxfords and Sneakers

Goodbye, snow boots! An easy transition for spring is a simple swap from boots to trendy sneakers and loafers. We love how easy they are to style with anything, making you look causal, polished and put together. A white sneakers is still our go-to, but loafers and oxfords are a big trend this season if you are looking to update your look.
